Successfully farming in Essex since 1940

The legacy of our farm traces back to the early 1900s when our great-grandad sowed the seeds of our family's heritage. Today, it's me alongside my dad, Robert, who nurture this tradition, blending old-world charm with modern innovation.

In 2015, we embarked on a journey into pumpkin and squash cultivation to supply wholesale pumpkins to a variety of customers across the country. Fast forward to 2020, we opened our doors to the public for the first time to join us at our Pumpkin Picking experience, and the rest is history!

2016
Wholesale Pumpkins

In 2016 we grew our first crop of wholesale pumpkins.

2020
The Pumpkin Patch

Ross and his partner Grace started the Pumpkin Patch in 2020.

2022
Pumpkin Nights

In 2022 we introduced our twighlight pumpkin picking evening "Pumpkin Nights".

2023
Confetti Flower Fields

In 2023 the new confetti flower fields were introduced! Improvements were also made to the Pumpkin Picking experience with the addition of Hatter’s Mad House and indoor space.

Our People

A full family affair, you’ll frequently find Ross alongside his partner, Mum, Dad, 2 sisters, family dog, and often some cousins chucked in there for good measure!

Local Area

Hatter’s Farm is nestled between the villages of Hatfield Broad Oak and Takeley which are home to some fantastic pubs! So if you fancy making a day of it and going out for a lovely pub meal before or after visiting the Pumpkin Patch or the Confetti Flower Fields. Then we would highly recommend visiting the Dukes Head or the Lion and Lamb.
